01 / FINDING

What the study reports

The antenna combines transmissive and reflective filtering by a frequency-selective surface with an integrated leaky-wave Fabry–Perot-type resonator. The authors report resonances at 462.4, 579 and 663.5 MHz, bandwidths of 2.5%, 5.9% and 1.9%, and gains of 1.22, 3.5 and 4 dBi, respectively. The abstract reports agreement between simulations and measurements. [1]

02 / BOUNDARY

What this does not establish

This brief uses the publisher abstract and author metadata. Although underground use motivates the paper, the accessible abstract does not establish a deployment-level underground link budget or performance across different soils. The listed bandwidths and gains describe separate resonances of the tested antenna.

03 / INTERPRETATION

Our engineering reading

Combining filtering and cavity modes provides a route to multiband antenna design. An underground system would also need installation-specific propagation, matching, dimensions and communications tests.

Editorial interpretation; not an additional measured result.
