What the study reports
The authors report a helicity-preserving all-dielectric metasurface built around silicon-nanodisc Mie resonances and an anapole-associated transmission feature. Under circularly polarized illumination, its normalized magnetization-induced transmission modulation is about two to three times that of the bare magnetic film near the Mie resonances. At the anapole-associated transmission maximum, the normalized effect remains about 37% above the film while total transmission exceeds 80%, and the abstract reports persistence across a broad angular range. [1]
What this does not establish
The comparison is a normalized enhancement relative to the specific bare magnetic film, not a universal multiplication of every magneto-optical effect. The accessible publisher material does not provide the full device geometry, absolute modulation depth, uncertainty, bandwidth or cycling stability, so this brief does not compare system-level switching performance.
Our engineering reading
In our interpretation, the high-transmission anapole regime is the most practically interesting result because it reduces the usual tension between resonant enhancement and optical throughput. Device relevance still depends on absolute contrast, spectral width, fabrication tolerance and magnetic-drive requirements.
