What the study reports
A flexible reconfigurable surface combines a conformal strain-sensor array, a neural-network control algorithm and voltage-controlled encoding. The system measures deformation and adjusts its electromagnetic response. Demonstrations include electromagnetic illusion, carpet cloaking and data transmission. [1]
What this does not establish
These are controlled demonstrations of a powered sensing-and-control platform. They do not imply passive invisibility, operation at every frequency or robustness under arbitrary deformation. Performance depends on the tested geometries and control system.
Our engineering reading
The contribution is closed-loop compensation for shape changes. Practical assessment should include sensing accuracy, control latency, power consumption and behavior outside the trained deformation range.
